‘Carter blames racism for Obama opposition’

Video here.  Thanks to bets for the heads up.

Edited to add: Oh, for crying out loud:

President Barack Obama’s spokesman publicly disagreed with former President Jimmy Carter on Wednesday over Carter’s contention that some conservative opposition to Obama is based on race.”The president does not think it is based on the color of his skin,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.

Also:

South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s son defended him Wednesday against a charge by former President Jimmy Carter that the congressman’s “You lie” outburst during a speech by President Obama was racist.

“There is not a racist bone in my dad’s body,” said Alan Wilson, who is running for state attorney general in South Carolina. “He doesn’t even laugh at distasteful jokes.”

So the biz about the confederate flags and Strom Thurmond’s daughter was … ?

  1. I don’t blame the president at all for denying that racism is the cause of the nastiness of the current so-called debate. I actually think that is the right public position to take. But I like to think that he does know that it is totally about race. If he doesn’t believe that it is, then he doesn’t “get” America at all.

“There is not a racist bone in my dad’s body,” said Alan Wilson. Yeah, I’ll bet some of his best friends are black.
