The ‘Obama effect’

This New York Times articles ponders whether Obama becoming president will have an effect on model casting.

Undoubtedly having a black president is a huge symbolic gesture. The question is whether it will change people’s opinions.

I tend to think the more important effect is how such events change how people feel about themselves.
