A Fresno, TX man has settled a racial profiling lawsuit against the city of Houston and Dillard’s department store. Kevin Wilson was arrested in December 2006.

His “crime”? He tossed a water bottle containing water flavored with a powdered drink mix into the trash.

Very suspicious. The police thought it was an illegal substance, and Wilson was jailed for 20 hours.

Dillard’s apparently has a history:

Black people have entered the store!

Black hair more difficult and thus should cost more. (I would note that once after getting my hair cut by a white person, I was informed that my haircut would cost more than I was originally told because I had “too much hair.” It was a good haircut but I never went back.)

Black woman denied cologne sample given to white patrons, instead arrested for shoplifting.

Black customer hogtied, ribs broken, mouth taped shut; died from injuries
