Just in case you didn’t get the memo
Some of us thought the “Horry Kow” shirt was racist. But titling a post on a “progressive” blog “Horry Kow That’s Racist!” is pretty racist too. Because when somebody has made a lame “joke” on the stereotype that Asians cannot speak English, repeating that “joke” is replicating racism.
But it’s not the first time, is it? Kinda like being able to have your anti-racist cake and eat it too.

I’m the blogrunner of “Alas,” but not the author of those two posts. I’ve emailed and asked Jack (the author) to weigh in, but meanwhile I’m editing the titles of the posts on “Alas.”
In my opinion the titles of these two posts are a bad mistake — and racist, just as you say. I’m sorry. Thanks for pointing it out, and hopefully “Alas” will do better in the future.
Just curious — where is the banner photo from? Thanks, Pink
Thanks for the heads up.
I agree, very fucked up of me.

I never caught the super bowl post until I reviewed all of my previous posts, and I only caught the Harry Carey reference shirt when Ampersand e-mailed me tellin’ me to check out the comment thread.
I just don’t get it.
