Am I the only one who saw this image as something other than two adults with their arms raised? Uh, I guess it’s a very maternal image.
PS: I hate the term “forever family.” But then I hate cute with a passion.

Tee hee. Either that or it’s an image of two POCs with an adopted white child. Fancy that.

Funny, I thought about two POCs with a white child too! Also, I thought it seemed a little telling that the child is not black like the parent outlines. ;-D

I also saw the white child and black parents and thought, huh? Then I read “maternal”…and laughed.

Um, I see a child standing between two martini glasses with olives in them. You people are perves! LOL

really really really weird choice of graphic. we have two large black figures and a small pink/peach one. how can we not read that as two POC adults and a white child?
oh, here’s another way:
a slim woman’s torso with breasts, and an arrow pointing to (not her bellybutton) some odd spot on the belly. what goes there?

The other thing I noted about the child is the choice of pink for its body. For transracial adoption, girl children are favored by a wide margin.
Maybe you could see this as two POC parents rejoicing to have received a white girl child. Or throwing their arms up in dismay. ;-D

Subtle but pernicious patriarchal dominance and separation: The figure on left is taller (or higher) implying “male”. Figure on right is just like the one on the left but smaller (or lower). Baby isn’t engaged with either of these but certainly is trapped by them.
Plus I saw this as iconic parents (i.e. white) with a brown baby girl.
Either way I don’t know why a lopsided b00b job is something to celebrate!
